American brand Meri Meri designs a wide range of fun products for special occasions and playful everyday life, from party favors to seasonal decorations, quality gifts and dreamy costumes. Their products are inspired by children's imagination and are characterized by sophisticated design.
The beginnings
When the brand launched 40 years ago, Meredithe Stuart-Smith worked with 70 San Francisco moms who made postcards and greeting cards at home, working alongside their family commitments. “I really got into this business so I could be my own boss, and pick up my kids from school,” says Meredithe.
Meredithe was arguably an original entrepreneur. Within two years, she sold her first postcard collection to Bergdorf Goodman in New York City, and Meri Meri was officially on its way to success.
Brand growth
By 1990, Meri Meri had five employees in a small office in California, and by 1996, that number had grown to 30 employees, not only in the United States but also in the United Kingdom. By 2024, the number of employees had grown to 85, and the head office was in Cheltenham, United Kingdom, where Meredithe moved in 1996. They also now have an office in Reno, United States. The brand’s success is well reflected in the fact that in 2018, Meri Meri moved to a three-story creative space with an ultra-modern design studio and a number of dedicated designers.
Meri Meri is now present in 80 countries, in more than 5,000 stores, but has also been selling its products online for a long time.
In the history of the brand, many innovative and fashionable designs followed one another, which were a huge success: special garlands, fashionable themed party items, themed muffin baskets, home furnishings, luxury costumes, candles... The design company's collaboration with the French Ladurée, the most famous Parisian teahouse and macaron expert, or with the London-based Liberty design studio, a trademark of quality design and refined craftsmanship, was also a great success.
There is still no shortage of ideas: the company launches new collections every spring-summer and autumn-winter, as well as for seasonal holidays, such as Valentine's Day, Easter, Christmas, New Year's. Meanwhile, Meri Meri, meeting the needs of the times, is also constantly expanding its range of recyclable products, which include products made from hardwood, recycled plastic and bamboo fiber blends.
