Jeujura building set – beech wood building toy for preschoolers

This article was written about one of our favorite brands on www.fajátékajánló.hu.

I am constantly looking for toys that can be interesting for preschoolers without having a display and without brand names appearing everywhere. The ideal toy allows the child to delve into the game, think, and requires some creativity and perseverance. The icing on the cake (and the most critical point) is that it is made of natural materials.

I admit, I haven't found a dozen games with similar parameters, but based on the positive experiences of the past few days, I have to say that the situation is not hopeless. We recently received a game that I didn't think would be so successful at first.

Jeujura is a French brand (pronounced: zzsözsürá) consists of two words, Jeu – as in game, and the region where the company is located (Jura Mountains). The company was founded 114 years ago (in 1911) by Henri Liégeon, who initially made tool handles and folding chairs, among other things. His son Bernard took over the company in 1931, when they started producing real toys. I think it is important to describe this because it is perhaps the oldest construction set of this type, and it is iconic in France.

There hasn't been a presentation of a similar game on the Wooden Game Show yet, so I was happy when one of their domestic distributors He asked if we could try out their sets. Oh no! I can finally test them live.

Paintable house

The 85-piece game includes a colorable/paintable paper sheet, pop-out sheets that "hide" doors and windows, a watercolor set, beech beams, roof elements, and a three-piece deciduous tree.

The toy box is airily packed, not padded, which is already an advantage, because in addition to staying in good condition (since you don't have to stuff it), you can pack the toy in a matter of seconds. Most of the elements are made of untreated beech wood, the accessories, such as the man, the door and the window, are made of some kind of pressed material. (I'll clarify as soon as it turns out.)

When you open the box, you will find a pile of carefully crafted wooden elements and beams of different sizes, which can be easily fitted into each other thanks to their grooved ends. The joints keep the tree house stable and allow it to be pulled and pulled on the table, but it is not recommended to lift this type of door and window.

Longer beams have a groove at both ends, while shorter ones only have one. Therefore, on the sides where the door and window are located – where we use the shorter, single-hook elements – the beams on one side cannot interlock, they are only held by the side walls of the door/window. This reduces the stability of the structure.

The open-close doors are made of elements that can be snapped out of templates, their assembly is simple and they are quite great little structures. After the side walls are erected, the roof can come. We place the cross beams on the triangular roof support elements, these hold the sheets that make up the roof.

The building kit also includes a leafy tree, which is apparently easy to assemble, and I personally really like it, and I can imagine that when it comes to painting (because it will), I'll go all out. The little man is not artistically elaborate, but it serves the purpose perfectly, his face can be drawn, his body can be seated.

As I wrote above, the set includes a watercolor set, which will come in handy sooner or later and will dress our dreamy natural beech wood house in colorful colors.
