Vilac retro racing car

Wooden toy cars are dear to my heart, and not just because I have a son. Wooden cars have a special role and place in the wooden toy market. Most of them are quickly outclassed by their metal and plastic counterparts, which is why I think most manufacturers let go of the 4-6 year old age group. This could be a natural process, but personally I don't like a toy to be too detailed, too specific, because it doesn't leave room for imagination. I specifically look for wooden cars.

There are many types, many brands make them in all types and sizes, but at one level - somewhere around the two- or three-year-old age group - the “innovation” process gets stuck. I rarely see an effort to create a design that older children can also enjoy. The criteria are simple and somewhat impossible: they should roll easily and do everything that other cars do, they should have the shape of a car, and natural materials should dominate the structure.

Most wooden cars are calibrated to the stimulus threshold of little ones (four wheels on a wooden block, painted yellow, with windows = bus), but preschoolers need something extra to make the vehicle cool.

Recently, I came across a car that I am very happy to show you because it meets all the above parameters. We purchased a Vilac retro racing car. It was love at first sight, as soon as my son got it, he immediately asked for another one.

It's a particularly nice toy. Its shape is clean yet exciting, its workmanship is of high quality, its size is handy, maybe a little bigger. It has an extra shiny, lacquered surface, which is usually not a special advantage with wooden toys, but it's a particularly good choice for this car. It has large plastic wheels, and there's a rear head protector behind the racer. I have to highlight its pattern, because my son thinks it makes the car look really cool, with a blue-red stripe running along the entire length of the car, and a "huge" air filter grille in front. The bottom of the car is completely smooth, and the chassis is hidden in the chassis.

The only thing I would change about the car as a layman is the wheel material. Maybe rubber would be better, but the manufacturer's choice is obviously not accidental, the plastic solution may be more resistant to time and wear.

This car I got it from here .
